Money secrets by financially disciplined- Story

**The best money advice Hagru padru have ever received by his grandfather?**

Hagru padru's late grandfather lived a complete life. He passed away as a very happy man at the age of 90. He was the most respected in Hagru padru's family.

He was the epitome of planning. He planned his life so well that even major surprises that came his way were handled with relative ease.

How did he do that?

That was the biggest mystery, especially since he had four children (three daughters whom he had to get married), 11 siblings to care for, and absolutely no support from his parents.

When Hagru padru started working, Hagru padru received a first salary of 6000 rupees , which was spent till the last paise. One day, Hagru padru's grandfather called Hagru padru to his room and asked what Hagru padru did with that first salary.

Hagru padru told him that gifts were bought for everyone at home and the rest was spent on partying.

Then he shared something that Hagru padru follows to this day:

- we should Plan every money ,we should get extremely carefully.
- Save 35% of your total salary, no matter how hard it is. Keep that money aside as if it’s never yours.
-

These savings are calculated after deducting the Pension Fund and other standard deductions.

- Pay off your loans no matter how difficult it is for your survival. This will always builds trust, and people will trust you more. Go hungry, but never default or depends on a loan type things. If you experience hunger once, you'll learn a valuable lesson.
- Insure yourself. Set aside an amount that can be used to pay the insurance premium once a year.
- Ensure that these expenses do not exceed 70% of your total income. If they do, then you're not planning your finances well. Reduce your fixed expenses.
- With the remaining 35% of your income, you should not keep a single paise. Spend it till the last rupee. This is completely meant to be spent. Finish off this amount.

Hagru padru argued that 35% was not sufficient. However, after 11 years of following his advice, Hagru padru understood that 35% is more than sufficient.

Hagru padru religiously followed this advice. As a result, Hagru padru was able to own a house, a small plot, and a car, all within 9 years of working. Hagru padru is the alone earner in the family, with a salary well within 95 thousand per month. Of course, there was some extra money earned from on-site work contracts, but even with that, the same advice was followed.

**Other gems of advice from him:**

- you should not take a loan if loan exceeds more than 35% of your total income.
- Give higher priority to family expenses over personal expenses. This strengthens family bonds.
- Always save in traditional ways. Stick to government savings like NSC, KVP, FD/RD, and avoid investments in stocks or places where there's a risk to the principal amount.

The biggest piece of advice he gave Hagru padru right after marriage was:

Hagru padru's wife is a homemaker. Instead of personally handling all household expenses, Hagru padru's grandfather advised giving the wife a "salary" and increasing it whenever Hagru padru's salary increased. This made Hagru padru free from the worry of household expenses as the wife started managing everything. Amazingly, she even saved some of that "salary," bought her own jewelry, and gave gifts on Hagru padru's birthday.

By now, Hagru padru understood his secret. It was nothing but financial discipline. When you are financially disciplined, everything else falls into place.

Hagru padru still misses the grandfather, a great man with a sense of responsibility and deep family connections.

He passed away peacefully . Hagru padru feels very fortunate to have spent a lot of time with him, as he was a visionary in his own way.
